GLCAC Promotes Bombard to Early Learning Division Director

August 18, 2026 – GLCAC has announced the promotion of Angeline Bombard to Division Director of Early Learning. Angie began her career at GLCAC in 2005 as a Head Start teacher and most recently served as director of the Perrault Child Care Center. In her new role, Angie will oversee all our early learning programs, including the five Head Start Centers, the Perrault Childcare Center, and the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement program.

“With more than 20 years of service in our Head Start and childcare programs, Angie has the experience, knowledge, and trust of families and her coworkers to help us prepare our children for bright futures,’’ said Vilma Martinez-Dominguez, GLCAC’s Executive Director and CEO.

Angie succeeds Justine Donovan, who retired earlier this year. Ana Santos, the current Education Supervisor, will serve as interim director of the Perrault Center.

Head Start Uplifts Families

Twenty years ago, I entered the Head Start program as a parent with two young children. I began volunteering and, with the support of staff and the community, enrolled in English classes and eventually earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Both of my sons, who started in Head Start, have grown into productive and positive young men-a testament to the power of early learning and family engagement.

After nearly 19 years of teaching, I felt called to support educators in the same way I had been supported. Today, I serve as an Education Coordinator, mentoring and guiding our teaching staff. I’m especially proud that ten of our team members are currently pursuing their Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials, and their excitement and dedication inspire me every day.

Head Start didn’t just change my life-it gave me the tools to help others transform theirs. I’m honored to be part of a program that uplifts families, empowers educators, and strengthens communities.

Language Skills Increase Opportunity

When Alexis arrived in Lawrence from the Dominican Republic in 2022, a lack of English skills limited his job options. He signed up for ESOL classes at GLCAC. Two months later, he went from stocking shelfs at a large retailer to earning his certificate as an auto technician and being recognized for his exceptional service. Today, he manages the service department.

“As my English proficiency improved, I gained confidence in myself,’’ he said. “This allowed me to apply for and get a new job, which has resulted in increased income and an improvement in my quality of life.’’
