The Lawrence Teen Coalition was established in 1986 to address the high rate of teen pregnancy in Lawrence and to develop a holistic and comprehensive adolescent pregnancy prevention action plan through a broadly representative community-based coalition. Its mission focuses on teenage pregnancy prevention and its linkage to related adolescent issues, such as drugs, tobacco, sexually transmitted infections, adolescent violence, and HIV/AIDS. By taking a community-wide, youth development, and comprehensive approach, the Lawrence Teen Coalition has been instrumental in reducing teenage births in Lawrence by 36.1%. The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc. is the Teen Coalition’s fiscal and administrative agent.
Currently the Lawrence Teen Coalition has no funded programs.
